Wednesday’s Watch~ Children and Birth
by StorkStories on May 27, 2009
Do American Children know this much about birth?
dematronas …. de matronas…
This YouTube video is a very well done example of the beauty of birth and the beautiful innocence of children.
These children are interviewed about birth and midwifes and babies.
They are very very smart indeed!
I found this courtesy of my new twitter friend @ketchup74.
From Spain or Argentina? with English subtitles.
Has anyone seen or found a video as beautiful or remarkable as this? Please send me a link if you have!
Check the comment for some great links already! Thank you!

Also, “Dar la teta,” a breastfeeding promotional video from Puerto Rico
Hi Emily, Thanks for those excellent video finds.. Wonder why there are no american videos like this out there.. if there are, I’ve not seen them!
Love the “Dar le teta”!
This is my 4-year-old son’s take on it all after my recent HBAC:
Preface: L arrived in the wee hours of the morning — I labored from about 3 a.m. to 5.30 a.m. T was home the whole time. He woke up several times and came to see me, all groggy-eyed. Dh explained to him what was going on and then took him back to bed & he went back to sleep, although I was vocalizing pretty loud through the labour. Today, he recounted the experience from his point of view.
“That’s my baby brother, L, and when he came, you were singing, Mommy. You went ‘Oooh, aaaah, ooooh.’ You were VERY loud. And that’s because baby L was coming out of your belly. He was going down, down, down out of your belly, and you were singing to him, and now he is here. I love you, baby L.”
I guess he knows the magic word now! 🙂
That’s so adorable and funny! I absolutely love the child’s perspective on birth! It is so amazing.. Thank you for that story.. 🙂
I just about cried. Now I will be sending the link to this page to everyone I know. What an amzing video! Thanks for sharing it here Melissa!
The dar le teta is lovely! Nice big kids nursing too! I like the one in the OP too! Both of my kids were at their brother’s birth, and everyone was so shocked that I would let them see all that. Sure I was scarring them for life. Nice to see it normalized, even if they are on the other side of the world.
